I have been very fortunate over the last several months, for the opportunity to teach a monthly Zentangle class at an independent scrapbook store here in Winnipeg. The store is run by a feisty, but adorable little Yorkshire Terrier named Daisy, with the help of her owner Marilyn Whatman. It's called Scrapbookers Anonymous & More and it's tucked away on Portage Avenue Carol Grahamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06872957360068845859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7705040146648783378.post-1361769418864529302016-09-08T14:34:00.002-05:002016-09-08T16:51:49.597-05:00Travelling Tangles
One of the (many) Zentangle-related Facebook Groups I belong to is called the Travelling Tangles Project. It was started in
February of this year by Stephanie Jennifer, a CZT in Singapore, and has
already grown to over 1,000 members around the world!
It is a collaborative project with a very cool concept; you begin tangling on a tile then send it, unfinished, to another tangler for Carol Grahamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06872957360068845859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7705040146648783378.post-62487556757619187132016-09-01T15:31:00.000-05:002016-09-08T15:33:31.469-05:00Zendala Class 31 August 2016
I do so love doing small classes in my Zen Den!
Five of my favourite tanglers gathered on Wednesday afternoon to create Zentangle Inspired Mandalas, known as Zendalas. From simple free-form designs, to Seed of Life and Torus patterns - these gals did a beautiful job.
Some sent me pictures of their finished Zendalas. Look what these WIP grew up to be . . .

I taught two classes at Scrapbookers Anonymous & More on Wednesday. This was a Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA) class based on the work of Joanne Fink. Joanne is a calligrapher/designer who was inspired by the Zentangle Method to create her Zenspirations technique as her way of 'drawing music'. You can learn more about her and her artwork HERE.

I knew I hadn't been doing the blog-thing very regularly, but Holy Hannah, I didn't realize it's been almost a year! Where does the time go?
Don't worry, that was a rhetorical question - I'm not going to start telling you everything I've been up to since my last post!
Lately though, I've been busy finalizing classes and Carol Grahamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06872957360068845859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7705040146648783378.post-58763955430460121382015-10-16T23:13:00.001-05:002015-10-16T23:59:49.464-05:00InkTober - Week 2I have seen SO many really inspiring #InkTober drawings this week. It is awfully easy to listen to my inner critic (her name is Marjorie) that my stuff doesn't compare. Well, you know what? Marge is the only one that's actually comparing. And while everyone is entitled to their own opinion, including her, we can't let other's opinions guide our art.
I was pretty pleased Carol Grahamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06872957360068845859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7705040146648783378.post-10601678749237534872015-10-07T15:04:00.001-05:002015-10-07T15:14:23.454-05:00InkToberSo, many of you have probably heard of InkTober...it was started in 2009, by artist Jake Parker as a challenge to complete one ink drawing a day in the month of October. You can read more about it HERE
I know several artists who've done some pretty amazing stuff in the past. Just search #InkTober on Facebook or Instagram for a visual treat! I picked up a plain white iPad case for $5, and tangled it.
I used a black Sakura IndentiPen, which flowed SO nice on the leather-like material.

The grey cast you see around my name is because it couldn't lay flat on the scanner.
It is really quite white!

Every year brings changes
Some good, some bad
Some eagerly anticipated, some dreaded, and some completely unexpected
There were many such changes for me and my family this past year
Certainly, not all were welcomed
They made us grow
They brought us together
They brought us to now
And right now, this very moment, is all any of us have
Embrace your now
Live it

So I decided I would tangle one for her birthday. She turned nine this month.
I used a grey-toned charcoal paper, Sakura Metallic Gelly Roll pens for the eyes, and black Micron for everything else. It is approx 8x10.

My rickety old metal mailbox was croaking out its last breath and beyond repair. I was excited to find this nice white plastic one, just begging to be tangled.
I used the Sakura IDenti Pen. It stood up well to being sprayed with water, so I'm not worried about the rain and snow. My front door faces south though, so I expect it may fade in the sun and require some Carol Grahamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06872957360068845859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7705040146648783378.post-38679074435290421652014-04-05T19:07:00.000-05:002015-01-06T01:45:14.073-06:00white ink
I came across a Guide to Choosing White Gel Ink Pens and Markers. I wanted to share it, as much to pass along the information, as to be able to find it again myself down the road when I'm scratching my head, saying "now, where did I see that article on white ink?" Am I the only one that happens to?

I've been feeling a little out-of-sorts this past week, and decided to try mixing things up a little, in order to "shake it off".
Generally when I tangle, the classic, square, white tile / black pen is my go-to. I tend to use the black and renaissance tiles, and colored pens less often, and think of them as 'treats'. Like one might think of, say ice cream - it's Carol Grahamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06872957360068845859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7705040146648783378.post-48316081681463157762014-03-01T12:32:00.000-06:002015-01-06T01:46:12.104-06:00awesome year!
I am in the midst of an Awesome Year . . . quite literally!
I am participating in Joanne Sharpe's online workshop, Draw Your Awesome Year. I am having an absolute blast, but I have been consumed with my journal - often neglecting pretty much everything else. You know, stuff like dusting and vacuuming, grocery shopping, and every once and awhile - eating!

Tangled Christmas Candles
I made these candles for some special folks on my Christmas list this year. I grabbed some nice scented candles at half-price from IKEA. I drew the tangles on tissue paper, then used a heat-gun to 'melt' the tissue paper into the candle.
I opened the candles very carefully, then re-wrapped them in the original
cellophane so they would lookCarol Grahamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06872957360068845859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7705040146648783378.post-45337962036549914312013-12-10T18:48:00.000-06:002015-01-06T01:50:24.244-06:00article on z e n t a n g l e

It features CZT Loretta West from Color Garden Studio in Spokane, Washington. Click HERE to read the article.

Okay, so I didn't EXACTLY do The Diva's Weekly Challenge this week . . . I never found the opportunity to sit down with an actual tile and make it happen. I DID play with Laura Harm's new tangle, and I have bits of Boo*Kee along the edge of Tuesday's crossword puzzle, on the back of my meter-reading card, and in the little book I carry in my purse that catches my random thoughts and Carol Grahamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06872957360068845859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7705040146648783378.post-65408004415607180702013-12-01T02:12:00.001-06:002015-01-06T01:51:57.743-06:00Diva's weekly challenge #146This week's challenge was a Duo-Tangle: Pea-nuckle & Well

I fooled around with variations of these in my 'play-book' for quite some time, and just wasn't feelin' it. It was getting late, and I figured I'd better just grab a tile and get 'er done.

This has been the most wonderful week!
We went to Alberta to visit my daughter and her family, and I got to spend some quality one-on-one time with my beautiful little granddaughter. She has seemingly boundless energy, and this grandma had a hard time keeping up!
